嘉義國際藝術紀錄影展一直定位為藝術紀錄影展,英文名稱爲 Chiayi International Art Doc Film Festival,簡稱CIADFF。在影展舉辦過程中總是廣納與藝文相關之所有紀錄片、類紀錄之實驗片,舉凡視覺藝術、表演藝術、文學、建築、民俗技藝、設計、城市美學、社區及各類相關延伸 之文化命題與教育等內容。

嘉義建城以來,持續深植藝術文化,致力於發展各項藝術人文活動,讓嘉義市充滿文化活力,藝文人才輩出,不負於自日治時期起所擁有的「畫都」美名。每年度皆舉辦的嘉義市國際管樂節,更持續讓嘉義市活躍於國際音樂舞台之上,更甚之,今年的「嘉義國際藝術紀錄片影展」更是達到前所未有的規模。

嘉義市結合固有的「畫都」與「音樂」二大元素,延伸用「影像」之概念呈現充滿藝術人文薈萃的嘉義市,於2014年起,舉辦亞洲首創之藝術紀錄影展。從「嘉義國際藝術紀錄影展」出發,以藝術紀錄片為主軸,拓展嘉義市之國際藝術視野,藉此為嘉義市藝術開啟嶄新的一頁。

秉持著為民眾與藝術工作者,提供與國際接軌對話交流平台之準則,第五屆「找不到的我—2018 嘉義國際藝術紀錄影展」,秉持初衷,開拓更多的藝文領域,帶來更豐富的藝術能量,用藝術紀錄片建起國際與嘉義的橋樑,讓民眾感受藝術的生命力,也用藝術紀錄片向世界發聲。

本屆影展彙集國內外優秀藝術紀錄片作品,總計有45部紀錄片作品參展,展出的紀錄影像當中,其中有4部影片世界首映;12 部亞洲首映;2部台灣首映、其中更有15部為影展首映,本屆破先例選擇了相當數量的藝廊、美術館展品、線上串流、電視頻道等管道之影片,更為此首創「影展首映」分類。其中也邀請到多達十餘名國際影人來台參與映後座談,包含美國、荷蘭、印度、英國、捷克、香港、南韓、加拿大等地,可謂「國際大會師」。讓嘉義市民至全台灣的民眾都能在此次影展欣賞到傑出且深度內涵的藝術紀錄影像,並誠摯地期盼,「嘉義國際藝術紀錄影展」更為活躍,成為更多藝術工作者皆趨之若鶩的藝術紀錄片交流平台,也希冀透過影展,讓國際看見臺灣所擁有的繁榮藝術生命力,看見嘉義市的藝文風采。

 

Since the founding of the city, Chiayi has been taken deep root in art and culture. Chiayi City is devoted in the development of all kinds of art and humanities activities, which fill the city with cultural energy and populate it with artistic talents. It never fails to live up to the name “City of Paintings” as dubbed during the Japanese occupation period. The annual Chiayi City International Band Festival has even put the city in the international music scene. Moreover, the scope of Chiayi City International Art Doc Festival this year has achieved its most well-established level.

Since 2014 Chiayi City has been holding documentary art festival, which is the first of its kind in Asia. By combining the elements of capital of painting and music two elements native to the city and extending on the idea of “Image”, Chiayi demonstrates itself as a cultural city with Chiayi City International Art Doc Festival. With art documentary art films at its core it opens the artistic international horizon of Chiayi City and ushers in the new page of its art.

Upholding the spirit of facilitating conversations between the public and art practitioners and also to elevate international exchange, “Lost Pieces of Me”, the 5th Chiayi City International Art Doc Festival breaks new grounds in art and culture. Art documentary charges Chiayi City with rich artistic energy and allows the public to experience the exuberant life of art. It also bridges the city with the world, through which Chiayi speaks to the international audience.

This edition of film festival brings together outstanding local and international art documentaries. A total of 45 films are shown, of which 4 are world premieres, 12 shown the first time in Asia and 2 in Taiwan, including 15 films premiere in the film festival. This year, we have selected numerous films from galleries, museums, stream medias and television channels, and created a new classification, “premiere in the film festival”. Many international directors are invited for talks, including directors from America, the Netherlands, India, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong and Canada. It gives the public of Chiayi a chance to be in face-to-face contact with the directors and allows them to appreciate these outstanding and philosophical contents. I sincerely hope Chiayi City International Art Doc Festival would become more and more active, and further evolve itself into an unmissable platform of art documentary for art practitioners. I also hope that through this festival the world will see the rich artistic vitality of Taiwan and also the charming art and culture of Chiayi.

在巨神般網路空間大規模侵襲人類生活與人際關係的同時,人工智慧澎渤地開展精準重複與大數據驗算的功能,取代了人類的身體與頭腦,我們不僅因此減少了每日與別人親臨接觸的機會,跟自己相處的時間也大為壓縮;我們創造出來的虛擬世界產生了前所未見的危機,它吞喫了自己做為人類最小單位的價值,甚至在開放而民主的社會中,個體的意義早已一落千丈。

個體意義的滑落,被取代的不只是手腳與頭腦並用的生存模式,也是地球上出現真人以來,徹底被自己的工具所取代最嚴重的一次革命,因爲卑微的個人根本沒有任何新的立場能反撲抗衡,尤其是絕大多數的一般人,均無足以對抗全球電子化與人工智慧的侵蝕與覆蓋。那些掌握網路大網的幕後監督者幾乎知悉所有個體的行為,個人私密因之無所遁行;控制人工智慧機器的掌權者,彼此較勁的不再是人的才能,而是人工智慧的精準控制與全面性的實施,也就是生活、地域及市場的大掠奪,於是人的位置消失,個體煙消雲散了,人只剩無腦消費者,當人工智慧完全替代大部份人類工作的那一天,恐怕也是人類真正的末日。

現在,人類完整的個體被巨大的超人力量一片片分解,這正是文藝復興以降所欲建構的人文主義的莫大挑戰,而如何才能讓人回到自己身上,再一次找到已流失的寸寸肉骨?本屆影展主題《找不到的我》即經由藝術紀錄片與短片,以藝術為介面當下探索個體對全球危機的反射,從全球污染、跨國文化、族群移動、歷史檢視、城市次文化、自然與人,機械人格化、甚至愛情的漂流等等當中,反映全球化下人類活動所呈現的掙扎與再出發,也以此回看個人在此大革命潮流之中如何正視自己的渺小與不安。

 

While the gigantic internet space invading the human life and relationship extensively, the artificial intelligence is booming on the accurate repeat and the function of big data checking, which replace the human body and mind. We are not only decrease the daily opportunity of in contact with other person, but also the time of getting along with yourself. We create the crisis in the illusion world that has never seen, which swallow the minimal value of being a human. The meaning of individual is nothing, even in an openminded and democratic society.

The decreasing of individual meaning leads to that the survival mode that human being uses their own hands and head has been replaced, which is the most serious revolution since the homo sapiens had appeared. We will be replaced by the machine we created, because a insignificant person has no stand to fight back or confront, especially the most of regular people, who don’t have strength to compete with the invading of global electronic and artificial intelligence. Those supervisors who dominate the internet are almost aware the behave of all the individuals, the person privacy has no place to hide from it. The dominators who control the artificial intelligence machine are no longer compare with each other for intelligence of human, but for the accurate control of AI and comprehensively executing, it means the total robbery of life, region, and market. The position of human has disappeared, the individual is gone, the people remain nothing but the mindless consumer, it will be the doomsday of human by the time that AI being able to place the human career thoroughly.

Nowadays, the completely human individual is disintegrated by the huge superpower, it is a heavy challenge of Humanism since the era of Renaissance, but how to make human focus back on themselves, how can we regain the lost pieces of us? Through the art documentary and clips, the subject of this film festival- “Lost pieces of me” will explore the reflection of individual from the global crisis. With global pollution, cross culture, racial immigration, history review, city subculture, nature and human, Mechanical personification, even the drifting of love etc., reflect the struggle and restart of human activity which is under the globalization, as well as we look back ourselves how to face our insignificant and disturbed in this trend of big revolution.
